Its product pipeline includes approximately 10 investigational compounds in Phase II and Phase I clinical development. The company’s lead compounds, which are in Phase II clinical trial include XL647 that inhibits EGFR, HER2, and VEGFR, which are receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) implicated in driving tumor proliferation and vascularization; and XL184, which inhibits the MET, RET, and VEGFR RTKs, is being developed for the treatment of medullary thyroid cancer and other tumor types. Its product portfolio also comprises XL019 that specifically inhibits the JAK2 tyrosine kinase and is being developed for the treatment of myelofibrosis, a myeloproliferative disorder. Exelixis has strategic corporate alliances with various pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Genentech, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, and Daiichi-Sankyo.
