NetEase, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates an interactive online community in the People’s Republic of China. It provides Chinese language content and services through its online games, Internet portal, e-mail, and wireless value-added service businesses. The company operates in three segments: Online Game Services; Advertising Services; and E-mail, Wireless Value-added Services and Others. It offers massively multi-player online role-playing games, including New Westward Journey Online II, Fantasy Westward Journey II, Tianxia III, Ghost II, and Heroes of Tang Dynasty II; licensed games; and mobile games. The company’s NetEase Websites provide Internet users with a network of Chinese language online services comprising content channels that offer news, information, and online entertainment; community and communication services, such as a micro-blogging, blogging, photo album, instant messaging, online personal advertisements, open courses, mobile news applications, and community forums; and various search functions, dictionary, and cloud note-taking applications. It also offers online advertising services that include banner advertising, channel sponsorships, direct e-mail, interactive media-rich sites, sponsored special events, games, contests, and other activities; e-mail services to individual and corporate users; and wireless value-added services. The company also provides e-commerce related services, such as Caipiao, an e-commerce services related to third-party lottery products; Wangyibao, an online payment platform; Baoxian, an online insurance service platform; EaseRead, an e-reading apps; Huatian, a matchmaking services; Cloud Music, an online music social network; Yinxiangpai, a personalized photo-based products; and game-related accessories. The company was formerly known as NetEase.com, Inc. and changed its name to NetEase, Inc. in March 2012. NetEase, Inc. was founded in 1997 and is based in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China.
