About NACCO Industries (NYSE:NC)
NACCO Industries, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in lift trucks, housewares, and mining businesses in the Americas, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific. It operates through three groups: NACCO Materials Handling, NACCO Housewares, and North American Coal. The NACCO Materials Handling group designs, engineers, manufactures, sells, services, and leases lift trucks and aftermarket parts under the Hyster, Yale, UNISOURCE, MULTIQUIP, and PREMIER names for light and heavy manufacturers, trucking and automotive companies, rental companies, building materials and paper suppliers, lumber, metal products, warehouses, retailers, food distributors, container handling companies, and governmental agencies. It also offers materials handling equipment, as well as sweepers, aerial work platforms, personnel carts, rough terrain forklifts, and racking and shelving. The NACCO Housewares group designs, markets, and distributes electric household appliances, as well as commercial products for restaurants, bars, and hotels under the Hamilton Beach, eclectrics, and Proctor Silex names to retail merchants and wholesale distributors. Its electric household appliance products include blenders, can openers, mixers, food processors, coffeemakers, irons, toasters, slow cookers, indoor grills, and toaster ovens. This group also markets air purifiers, allergen reducers, and home odor elimination products under the TrueAir name. In addition, it operates retail stores that offer kitchenware and gourmet foods under the Kitchen Collection and Le Gourmet Chef names. As of December 31, 2007, this group operated 272 retail stores. The North American Coal group mines and markets lignite coal primarily as fuel for power generation to electric utilities and independent power providers, as well as provides dragline mining services for limerock quarries. The company was founded in 1913 and is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.
